Michael Lewandowski named Director of Adult Catechesis and Evangelization
I am delighted to announce that Mike Lewandowski will assume the position of Director of Adult Catechesis and Evangelization at Saints Peter and Paul effective September 6.
This will be a homecoming of sorts for Mike, who is not only a Saints Peter and Paul parishioner, but previously served as Assistant Director of Religious Education (2013-15) and Coordinator of the New Evangelization for Youth (2009-15) for Saints Peter and Paul. Mike has been serving as Pastoral Associate at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Lisle since July, 2015. In that role, Mike oversaw RCIA, prepared adults for Confirmation, instructed parents on the Sacrament of Baptism, created and taught Bible studies, and provided other online and parish renewal programs.
David Spesia, Executive Director of the Secretariat of Evangelization and Catechesis for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (and a previous supervisor for Mike in his roles at Joliet Catholic Academy and for the Newman Institute of the Diocese of Joliet) had this to offer when providing a reference for him: “Mike doesn’t just know what the Church teaches, he engages the questions around the teachings. Mike will be a great fit for Saints Peter and Paul; he is dynamic, creative, and brings a joyfulness to what he does.”
Mike will be filling the position previously staffed by Tiffany Whitaker, who has resigned to be a stay-at-home mother to her two young children. I am very grateful to Tiffany for the wonderful ministry she has provided to our parish community for the past six years.
Mike met his wife, Kristi, at Saints Peter and Paul. They were married at the Parish in 2012 and are parents to six children. Please join me in warmly welcoming Mike to this new role within our Parish community.
