Our diocesan church will gather on Feb. 8-10 to celebrate a time of spiritual devotion before the Blessed Sacrament during this diocesan year of the National Eucharistic Revival.
Our Forty Hours Devotion will take place at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus in Joliet. It will begin each day with a morning Mass and conclude with a prayer service in the evening. Throughout the day there will be silent adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and at various times during the day there will be communal prayer services.
The basic schedule will be the same each day – morning Mass on Wed., Feb. 8 at 6:30 a.m.; morning Mass on Thurs., Feb. 9 at 8 a.m.; and morning Mass on Fri., Feb. 10 at 8 a.m. With the conclusion of morning Mass and until the 8 p.m. prayer service, the cathedral will be open for individuals to spend time in silent adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
Communal prayer services will take place at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., and will be led by various priests of the diocese, cultural groups, needs groups, school children and diocesan employees. A listing of the prayer service leaders will be sent out soon. After the 8 p.m. service, the Blessed Sacrament will be reposed for the day.
We encourage all people to come and reflect in prayer on the wondrous gift of the Eucharist. We encourage parish groups – OCIA process groups, prayer groups, Bible study groups, Council of Catholic Women, Knights of Columbus, women’s and men’s organizations, young adult groups, high school groups, etc.) to come and spend time together praying for the needs of their parish, their families and their neighbors.
