Revisions to Diocese of Joliet COVID-19 Mitigation Protocols

COVID-19 Update

With the state of Illinois lifting the mask mandate for indoor public spaces on February 28, the Diocese of Joliet will revise its protocols and lift restrictions. The following guidelines affect all church and office activities; schools and religious education continue to follow their own requirements. 

Effective Monday, February 28, 2022:

• Masks are recommended, but not required, in church and office settings. Everyone should be respectful of others who may or may not choose to wear masks. Saints Peter and Paul has a designated special seating area (the first few pews on the St. Joseph side of the sanctuary) for those who wish to maintain social distancing and mask-wearing precautions.
• The procedure for the distribution of Holy Communion will remain the same. Those wishing to receive the Eucharist on their tongue or in the hand should approach the minister standing against the front pew; the two stations at the base of the Altar steps will remain for reception on the hand only. Until further notice, the Precious Blood will not be distributed.
• We will return to observing the Sign of Peace.
• The dispensation from the Sunday obligation remains in place.
